Student Robotics 2014
On the 26th and 27th of April, I took part in the annual UK Student Robotics competition. The competition, which took place at the Newbury racecourse, is organised by university students mainly from Southampton and Bristol.
This year's competition involved designing and building a robot capable of detecting small cardboard boxes, picking them up, orientating them, and placing them down in designated slots. Each match lasted 3 minutes, with the weekend being split into a league, and a knockout, seeded by the league. Teams had minimal time to fix and improve their robots between matches, so the weekend was extremely fast paced, but very good fun.
Our team's robot slowly fell apart during the league, before falling at the first hurdle in the knockout when its wheel snapped off. Such is life.
My fourth attempt at making a voxel game engine. Development has been more or less abandoned for the time being.
